Nandita studied Advanced Composition at King's College London with Silvina Milstein during her undergraduate degree. As a composer, she has had a number of works performed and recorded, including a workshop and recording with the contemporary music group Lontano. As a violinist, Nandita particularly enjoys composing for strings, but has also composed for other instruments including piano, harp, marimba, clarinet and voice. Despite focusing on her violin studies over the past four years, Nandita continues to write music. Her recent composition, Till All The Seas Gang Dry, was written for the Camilli String Quartet tour to Scotland in 2015, and performed as part of the Sound Festival in Aberdeen. The piece was reviewed by Alan Cooper during their performance at the Citadel - see the review here.
Coming from an Indian Background, Nandita's most recent work, Nava Rasa for Violin and Piano, combines elements of Indian Classical music with her passion for Western Classical music. Nandita undertakes commissions to write specific pieces - contact her for more information.
